Who doesn’t love home amenities – especially those that might upstage your neighbor? A buyer who is paying a premium for a turn-key home is looking for every justification of that price tag, and luxury amenities are the perfect excuse to pay just a bit more. A report done by Zillow identified which amenities correlated with a higher sales price. By reviewing listing descriptions for 4.6 million home sales across the country, Zillow found the biggest money makers were a steam oven, professional-grade appliances, wine cellars and steam showers.
While there is no way to truly pinpoint the culprit behind the increased prices in homes with these features, we can contemplate what this correlation means. Personally, I think psychology has more to do with it versus the actual value added by these features. To a buyer, a seller who has invested in these luxury amenities has probably not cut corners or spared expense in all other aspects regarding the property. Further, it is sometimes the smallest things that distinguish one home from another to buyers. When they have been house hunting and seeing the same things over and over again, just one unique feature can evoke a memorable emotional response. Every seller's dream buyer is one who is head over heels in love with the property - thus willing to do whatever it takes to win the sale.
No matter the reason, going above and beyond, even in the smallest ways, will pay off in the end. Check out the list below to see the top 10 features correlated with the highest sale price!
